Missouri Cigarette Prices

What is the usual price per carton?

Like anything else, the price will vary with the shop. I have seen prices from about $40 a carton up near the Michigan border to more than $50.

But the state tax rate is what makes the difference in the minimum price, because the basic charge by the manufacturer, plus the Federal tax, is going to be the same in every state. In Indiana, the state cigarette tax rate is 99.95 cents per pack (in other words, just a hair under $1 per pack or $9.95 per carton). That puts Indiana at 31 out of the 50 states plus DC. New York and Rhode Island have the highest cigarette taxes; Missouri and Virginia are the lowest. Indiana is about average, or a little below. See the Source for more info.
